birdLife · Data deletion
Request deletion of your data
This page is for the birdLife Android app
(package com.freelife.android).
Use the steps below to request that birdLife delete personal data associated with you.
Prominently: the primary way to delete your data is to delete your birdLife account
in the app (Profile → Delete account). That removes your profile and associated live personal data.
You can also email a data-deletion request if you cannot use the app.
Steps to request data deletion
Option A — In the birdLife app (recommended)
- Open the birdLife app and sign in.
- Go to Profile.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm deletion when prompted.
-
If the app asks you to sign in again first, sign out, sign back in, then repeat deletion
within a few minutes.
Deleting your account deletes the personal data listed below from our live systems.
This usually completes immediately after confirmation.
Option B — Request by email
-
Email
support@freelife.app
with subject birdLife data deletion request.
- Include the Google email (or guest sign-in details) used for birdLife.
- State whether you want all personal data deleted and/or the account closed.
- We verify ownership, then process the request within 30 days.
Types of data that are deleted
- Account and profile information (name, bio, photos, interests, age, preferences)
- Location / discovery data used for matching
- Verification records linked to your account
- Your access to matches, chats, and direct messages
- App settings such as hide-from-discovery and privacy toggles stored on your profile
Types of data that may be kept (retention)
-
Safety / abuse records (reports, blocks, moderation notes):
up to 90 days after the deletion request, then deleted or anonymized,
unless law or an active investigation requires longer retention.
-
Purchase and subscription records (Google Play / RevenueCat):
retained as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention
(commonly up to 7 years where legally required).
These are billing records, not your dating profile content.
-
Messages already shown to other users may remain in their conversation history
until those users delete chats or their own accounts. Your profile is removed from live user records;
backup copies are purged on normal backup rotation (up to 30 days).
-
Aggregated / anonymized analytics that cannot reasonably identify you may be kept
for product improvement.
