Request account & data deletion

This page is for the birdLife Android app (package com.freelife.android). Use the steps below to delete your account and associated personal data.

Fastest option: delete from inside the app (takes effect immediately after confirmation).

Option 1 — Delete in the birdLife app

Open the birdLife app and sign in.
Go to Profile.
Scroll to Delete account.
Confirm deletion twice when prompted.
If you see a recent-login error, sign out, sign back in, then delete again within a few minutes.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you cannot access the app, email us:

support@freelife.app

Include:

Subject: birdLife account deletion request
The Google email (or guest identifiers) used to sign in
Your display name on birdLife (if you remember it)

We process email deletion requests within 30 days of verifying account ownership. We may ask for a short confirmation reply so we do not delete the wrong account.

What data is deleted

Your user profile (name, bio, photos, interests, age, settings)
Your authentication / sign-in account for birdLife
Verification records linked to your account
Discovery / location profile data used for matching
Access to your matches, chats, and DMs from your account

What may be kept (and for how long)

Safety & abuse records (reports, blocks, and related moderation notes): kept up to 90 days after deletion, then removed or anonymized, unless a longer period is required by law or an active investigation.
Purchase / subscription records from Google Play (and billing partners such as RevenueCat): may be retained as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention (typically up to 7 years where legally required). These are billing records, not your dating profile.
Messages already delivered to other users may remain visible in the other person’s inbox until those chats are deleted or those users delete their own accounts. We remove your profile identity from our live user records; residual copies in backups are purged on the normal backup rotation cycle (up to 30 days).
Aggregated / anonymized analytics that cannot reasonably identify you may be kept indefinitely for product improvement.

After deletion

You will be signed out and can no longer use that account.
To use birdLife again, you must create a new account.
Deleting your birdLife account does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. Manage or cancel Premium in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions.
